2024 Election – Candidate Information

Wisconsin Right to Life strives to provide the public with accurate information on where each candidate stands on the protection of human life and support for women and their preborn children. Candidate comparisons are based on voting records on life issues, public statements made on the issue of abortion, and on the WRTL Candidate Questionnaire.

U.S. Senate

Tammy Baldwin
  • Supports abortion without limits, and introduced the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023, which would guarantee access to abortion till birth across the country.  
  • Supports taxpayer funding for abortion providers, S. 109 
  • Voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, S. 311 
  • Voted against the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, S. 3275 
  • Is endorsed by several pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood Action Group 
Eric Hovde
  • Supports restricting late term abortion (PBS Wisconsin, June 2024) 
  • Supports pro-life laws being decided by the states (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, April 2024)  
  • Supports finding “a compassionate, commonsense solution to bring our state together on this issue.” (Wisconsin Public Radio, May 2024) 
  • Supports exceptions for rape, incest, and health of the mother (PBS Wisconsin, June 2024) 

1st Congressional District

Peter Barca
  • Opposed Assembly Bill 128 and Assembly Bill 310, to prohibit abortion coverage by state insurance plans and to prohibit a public entity from distributing tax dollars for abortions (2017-2018 Wisconsin State Legislative Session) 
  • Had a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin and NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin while serving in the Wisconsin State Legislature  
  • Had a 0% rating from Wisconsin Right to Life while serving in the Wisconsin State Legislature 
Bryan Steil
  • Supported the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, H.R. 26, to require health care practitioners to provide the same degree of care to a child born alive following an abortion as would be provided to any other child born at the same gestational age 
  • Supported H.R. 6918 to fund and support Pregnancy Resource Centers 
  • Opposes taxpayer funding of abortion 
  • Supported H.R. 6914 to provide information to college students of resources available to pregnant and parenting students

Mark Pocan
