The Wanna-Be Abortion President Shifts Ever So Slightly, but Erroneously, on Abortion

As sands shift in the wind, so does Obama on just about every issue. Now he’s trying to spin his ardently pro-abortion position. Take partial-birth abortion — how do you “sell” the public on your support of what just about everyone recognizes as a grotesque, disgusting attack on a baby still partly inside the mother?

You make up new “facts,” Obama-style, which is what he did in a recent interview with Relevant magazine. Obama stated: “I have repeatedly said that I think it’s entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict-well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don’t think that ‘mental distress’ qualifies as health of the mother…..”

Excuse me — “repeatedly?” When and where has he called for states to restrict late-term abortions? How audacious! Especially in light of his co-sponsorship of the Freedom of Choice Act which will OVERTURN state and federal bans on partial-birth and late-term abortions! And, his publicly-expressed “concern” that the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2007 decision upholding the federal partial-birth abortion ban would erode a woman’s right to choice.

Also, apparently, brilliant Harvard-educated lawyer and constitutional law professor that he is, Obama fails to recognize that no greater authority than the U.S. Supreme court defined “health” back in 1973 to INCLUDE mental distress. In a speech last year, Obama said: “I put Roe at the center of my lesson plan on reproductive freedom when I taught Constitutional law.”

Perhaps he should go back and read the companion Roe and Doe 1973 cases again. But then, he would have to confront the truth, which he likely already knows, and his remarkable “spin” would be revealed for what it is — a not-so-clever ploy to fool the American people into thinking he has even an ounce of compassion for unborn children, which he does not.
