The Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) released its 2012 report and it’s clear that PPFA continues to build its financial empire, reporting more than $1.3 billion in net assets. Of that amount, $540.6 million was received in taxpayer funding — a stunning $1.5 million per day which comes from government grants, contracts and Medicaid reimbursements.
In 2012, PPFA performed 327,166 abortions nationwide, a 2% drop from 2011. The 2012 numbers remain a dramatic increase of 100,000 more abortions than the 227,385 performed in 2002.
Abortions made up 93.8% of PPFA’s pregnancy services. Said another way, 93.8% of pregnant women who come to PPFA facilities have abortions. Prenatal care and adoption account for only 5.6% of services for pregnant women. Prenatal care services have dropped 52% at PPFA since 2009.
Here’s one of the most shocking numbers. PPFA almost destroyed the Susan G. Komen breast cancer organization a few years ago over Komen’s decision, and then its reversal, of giving grants to PPFA. The 2012 numbers reveal that cancer screenings provided by PPFA have dropped 39% since 2009.
PPFA continues to be the nation’s abortion giant.
