About Wisconsin Right to Life
Wisconsin Right to Life was founded in 1968 and continues serving Wisconsin to make euthanasia, infanticide, abortion, and the destruction of human embryos socially, ethically, and legally unacceptable solutions to human problems and to promote positive alternatives to these acts. The vision of Wisconsin Right to Life is to change hearts and minds so that all will cherish human life.
Summary of the Role
The Social Media and Communications Director will create, write, design and coordinate communications and publications for the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Social Media and Communications Director is responsible for:
General
- Maintain branding across all out-facing communications and publications
- Communicate with all departments to ensure consistent messaging and materials
- Maintain social media and promotions calendar to manage outfacing communications from all departments
- Write fundraising event scripts for Executive Director and execute technical aspects of events (slideshow, sound and video equipment, music, etc.)
- Collaborate with Executive Director on yearly theme and work to incorporate it into publications, event materials, blog and social media posts, etc.
- Manage part-time Web & Media Specialist by contributing to website goals and vision
Publications
- LifeVoice: 4 issues annually (1 per quarter)
- LifeVoice Online: weekly Monday morning email newsletter
- Veritas Insider: 1 issue annually (early-mid Summer)
- Special publication ads in local newspapers, such as Catholic Herald (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, January 22, June 24, Respect Life Month, etc.)
- Marketing materials: event invitations/flyers/attendee packets, direct mail pieces, informational flyers, yard signs, election guides in election years, etc.
- Other print materials as needed: business cards, t-shirts and other branded merchandise, chapter ads and billboards, etc.
Digital/Social Media
- Create content for all social media accounts
- Write or work with staff and other key people to publish regular blog content
- Create event-related content for digital media
- Create event-related emails to send to specific invitee lists
- Create fundraising email content
- Write or edit press releases to be determined by Executive Director and Legislative/PAC Director
- Develop and deploy videos on social media and for specific campaigns
Website/Email/Subscriptions
- Manage emails sent to general email accounts
- Manage and update website content, and communicate with website vendors regularly
- Manage all office subscriptions
- Manage media email/call lists
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent technical skills and proficiency in various software programs
- Excellent proofreading and writing skills
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and other Microsoft products
- Knowledge of social media platforms
- Graphic design experience in Canva and Adobe Creative preferred
- Experience using WordPress or other website platforms
- Good project organizational abilities with attention to detail
- Video recording and editing experience a plus
- Ability to work 40 hours per week from WRTL office in Milwaukee, ability to travel within Wisconsin, with some evening or weekend events as necessary
