Stories from Summer Events
Wisconsin Right to Life volunteers and staff spent the summer hosting booths at Lifest, Onefest, and State Fair. Each event has thousands of attendees, and Wisconsin Right to Life is proud to have a pro-life presence at these events to share our programs and resources.
Hundreds of people shared their own pro-life stories with us, thanked us for the work we do, and gave us a glimpse of the impact Wisconsin Right to Life has on the lives of so many. Here are some of those stories:
A mom and her teenage daughter approached our booth at State Fair. The mom immediately disclosed that she is not pro-life, but her daughter is, and she plans to support her daughter’s beliefs even if she disagrees with her. I said that I appreciated how supportive she was, and asked the teenage daughter if she had ever heard of our teen impact boxes, which would give her free pro-life resources and connect her to a community of hundreds of pro-life teens.
Her face lit up, and she shared that she hadn’t heard of them but wanted to know more. Without hesitation, she signed up for our boxes while her mom and I had friendly small talk. When they walked away, I thought not only of the encouragement this teen was now going to receive through our programs, but also the conversations she and her mother would have as each teen impact box arrived at their home.
It gave me hope for both! -Chelsea D.
A woman came up to our booth at Lifest. She revealed that her sister was pregnant – and was considering abortion. We thanked her for reaching out to us, and gave her the contact information for the nearest pregnancy resource center. We don’t know what will happen, but we know that woman now has the resources she needs to be an advocate for her sister and her sister’s unborn child. -Jacob I.
A young woman approached me at our booth at Lifest. She shared how a couple years ago she had found herself pregnant and scared, and had gotten as far as laying on the table at the abortion clinic, ready for the procedure to begin. As she lay there, she knew she couldn’t get the abortion. So she jumped off the table and left the clinic.
She then introduced me to her little boy, who is now two years old! She was over the moon happy, knowing she made the best choice to keep her baby. -Doreen S.
A man who was blind came to our State Fair booth with his mother. They both immediately gravitated to our fetal model set. The mother picked up each baby model and set it in her son’s hands, sharing the age of each model while he remarked on the weight and features he could feel with his hands. We started chatting, and he shared that he was born prematurely, and this was the first time he had a real understanding of how small he was when he was born. He appreciated the chance to “see” the unborn using our fetal model set, and his mother was so grateful we were sharing this with the public. -Gracie S.
