Looking for a New Year’s Resolution That Can Change Lives? Volunteer with Wisconsin Right to Life.
Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to make a real difference this year?
If it is, we can help.
And if it isn’t yet, maybe some of our volunteers can convince you.
At Wisconsin Right to Life, volunteers across the state are helping mothers choose life, supporting families, and building a culture that values every human life.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Some are young. Some are retired. Some have been pro-life for decades. Others are just getting started.
But they all share one thing: a desire to help women and children when it matters most.
“What more can I do?”
That’s the question Dave Silva, a volunteer from Milwaukee, asked himself.
“I’ve always been pro-life,” Dave said. “But then I thought, what more can I do to help besides just voting the right way?”
So Dave showed up.
He started volunteering with Wisconsin Right to Life, including helping at the State Fair booth, talking with families, answering questions, and showing people what pro-life supporters are really like.
“I enjoy talking to people,” Dave shared. “Just showing who we really are, “he continued, noting it’s not how the media portrays the pro-life community.
For Dave, the most important thing about volunteering isn’t about saving the world.
“I’m just trying to do my little bit to save one child,” he said.
“It’s going to be okay.”
For Laura Rathmann from Slinger, volunteering is deeply personal.
Laura became pregnant at 17.
“I knew that …I just really couldn’t have an abortion,” she said. “When you hear those words, that is the scariest words you can possibly hear.”
She remembers falling apart—until her father told her, “It’s going to be okay.”
“I knew right then it was gonna be okay,” Laura said. “So I knew I didn’t have to have an abortion.”
Now retired, Laura volunteers with Wisconsin Right to Life because she wants other women to hear that same message—that they have choices, and they don’t have to face pregnancy alone.
“I wanted to help other women and families to know that they could go through it,” she said. “But they need that support … It’s a scary time.”
There’s a place for you, too
Whether you enjoy talking with people, helping behind the scenes, working events, or sharing information with your church or community, there is a place for you at Wisconsin Right to Life.
“Depending on what you want to do,” Laura said, “there’s a way to use you. There’s a way you can help.”
Dave agrees.
“Just jump in,” he said. “There’s bound to be something that you can use your skills and something that you would feel comfortable doing.”
