Wisconsin Right to Life Thanks Speaker Ryan for Making the Defunding of the Nation’s Largest Abortion Provider a Priority

     "Wisconsin Right to Life is deeply grateful that Speaker Paul D. Ryan is committed to defunding the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood," stated Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. "Speaker Ryan, along with his pro-life colleagues, are standing firm on their promises and making clear that the right to life is a major priority in Congress.”

     Speaker Ryan announced yesterday that House Republicans plan on defunding Planned Parenthood, one day after the House’s Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives released their final report on the abortion industry’s involvement in the sale and use of fetal tissue. Their report found that Planned Parenthood had relationships with tissue procurement companies and universities that are “fraught with questionable practices, including the possible use of illegal, late-term abortion practices to procure fetal tissues and organs, violations of federal laws and regulations on patient consent, and systematic violations of patients’ HIPAA rights.”

     “In light of the constant controversy that looms over Planned Parenthood, it makes absolutely no sense for the nation’s largest abortion provider to receive a single taxpayer dime,” continued Weininger. “We are very happy to hear that Congress plans on taking away funding for an organization that profits off of the dismemberment of unborn children.”
