Wisconsin Right to Life Supports the U.S. House’s Efforts to Repeal Obamacare

"Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on their first step towards repealing the abortion-supporting and healthcare-rationing Obamacare," stated Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. "Wisconsin Right to Life is extremely thankful for the leadership of Speaker Ryan and his pro-life colleagues Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, Rep. Glenn Grothman, Rep. Sean Duffy, and Rep. Mike Gallagher as they move forward to repeal and replace this deeply flawed law.”

Obamacare opens the door to taxpayer dollars being used to subsidize insurance coverage for elective abortion. The law created new pipelines of federal funding for health insurance plans that were not covered by, and which departed sharply from the principles of, the Hyde Amendment, which had prevented federal Medicaid funding of elective abortion since 1976. In addition to the abortion-related policies woven into Obamacare, the law significantly impacts Americans’ ability to access life-saving medical treatment for ourselves and our family members and loved ones. “Obamacare is bad medicine for America, and we look forward to its full repeal, and replacement with a life-affirming law,” continued Weininger.
