Wisconsin Right to Life Applauds U.S. Senate Vote to Advance Effort to Repeal Obamacare

“Wisconsin Right to Life applauds the efforts to repeal Obamacare, and urges the U.S. Senate to pass a bill with pro-life protections now,” stated Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. “In particular, we thank Sen. Ron Johnson (R – WI) for his vote to advance this debate and move towards ending Obamacare and its abortion-supporting provisions.”
This afternoon, the U.S. Senate voted 51-50 to begin debate on repealing major provisions of Obamacare. National Right to Life, Wisconsin Right to Life’s parent organization, issued an advisory letter to members of the Senate warning that it intended to include the roll call in their scorecard of key right-to-life votes of the 115th Congress.
The Senate now will begin debating and has the chance to protect life by moving away from multiple abortion-supporting and anti-life provisions of Obamacare. There will be an initial period of 20 hours of debate, followed by an open amendment process.
“Wisconsin Right to Life will be closely monitoring each and every amendment, especially those related to abortion, Planned Parenthood funding, and issues related to healthcare rationing,” continued Weininger. “The pro-life movement has waited many years to repeal Obamacare, and the time to do this is now.”
