Wisconsin Right to Life Commends Pro-Life Leadership in Wisconsin

This morning, Republican leadership in the state legislature asked a judge to dismiss Attorney General Josh Kaul’s lawsuit challenging Wisconsin’s pro-life abortion ban.

Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the United State Supreme Court, Wisconsin’s abortion ban, 940.04, is once again effective and saving preborn lives in Wisconsin. However, instead of ensuring the law is enforced and lives are saved, Governor Evers and Attorney General Kaul filed a challenge to the law in June.

Today, Senate President Chris Kapenga, Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu, and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos filed a motion to dismiss this lawsuit, under the contention that Kaul’s lawsuit lacks legal standing.

Gracie Skogman, Wisconsin Right to Life’s legislative/PAC director responded, “Governor Evers and Attorney General Kaul continue to be derelict in their duties, and are engaged in political theater with this lawsuit instead of standing up for our most vulnerable citizens. Women and preborn babies deserve better, and 940.04 must be enforced. We are grateful for our pro-life leadership in Madison, and thank Senate President Kapenga, Senate Majority Leader LeMahieu and Assembly Speaker Vos for standing up for the lives of our most vulnerable.”
