Health Care “Reform” and Abortion

Health care reform takes center stage for the summer with the lives of hundreds of thousands of unborn babies in peril.

You must contact your two U.S. Senators and U.S. Congressman immediately and insist that they oppose any health care reform plan in which abortion is not specifically excluded. Click on the link below for ease in contacting your elected officials.

At the heart of Obama’s vision of health care is federal mandates to employers on what they must cover for their employees. The plan will also likely include coverage of abortion-on-demand for low-income citizens, effectively gutting the Hyde Amendment which has protected taxpayers from paying for abortions for over 30 years.

Planned Parenthood and friends see health care reform as their top priority to “force-feed abortion into every nook and cranny of the health-care delivery system,” says Douglas Johnson, National Right to Life Legislative Director. Candidate Obama said of health care reform, “in my mind, reproductive care is essential care, basic care, so it is at the center, the heart of the plan that I propose.” Sounds like a road map to mainstream abortion, thus dramatically increasing their numbers.

Congress could set up “fool-you” legislation. Abortion would not be mentioned, but authority delegated to a board, group or individuals to decide at a later date what health care services are mandated. Congress gets a pass at the time legislation is passed and at a later date, abortion-on-demand becomes a mandated “service.” Slick.

Obama is calling on his Internet crowd to bombard Senators and Congressman with urgent messages to enact health care reform. We need to match their efforts.
