Pro-Life Indiana Governor Mike Pence Excellent Choice for Vice President

“Indiana Governor Mike Pence has a solid right-to-life record from both his time in Congress and his time as governor,” stated Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. “Over and over again, Mike Pence has proven himself to be a strong leader for the right to life.”

This morning via Twitter, presumptive Republican nominee Donald J. Trump announced Governor Mike Pence as his running mate.

During Pence’s tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives (2001-2012), Pence, served as a member of the House Judiciary Committee and on the Subcommittee on the Constitution. In those positions, Pence actively participated in hearings and committee action on a number of major pro-life bills, including the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, enacted in 2003, and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, enacted in 2004.

As governor of Indiana, Pence has championed several pro-life measures, including most recently a bill that, among other things, would ban abortionists from knowingly aborting an unborn baby solely because of a disability or because of the baby’s race or gender. It is currently enjoined pending litigation.

“Governor Mike Pence is an excellent choice for Vice President, whose pro-life record contrasts strongly with that of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party,” continued Weininger.
