Planned Parenthood Sued for Botched Abortions

Botched abortions? By that supposed pillar of society, Planned Parenthood? Hasn’t it been drummed into our heads that once abortions are legal, they are safe? Tell that to two women who were so severely injured that they sued.

In Nebraska, an unnamed woman settled her lawsuit against a Planned Parenthood affiliate after she suffered perforation of her uterus and a severe loss of blood which almost took her life. She is now unable to have children. Lifenews.com reports from the lawsuit papers that “the woman was given a shot in her cervix…she then heard a suction sound and ‘immediately complained of excruciating pain’……she told the abortionist to stop…..three Planned Parenthood employees held the woman down while Severson completed the abortion. The woman experienced severe pain and bleeding afterwards and experienced three seizures by the time she was rushed to BryanLGH Medical Center East.”

Thirteen-year-old Shantese Butler was taken to a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in the District of Columbia after becoming pregnant following a sexual assault. As reported by Lifenews.com, “the abortion resulted in severe abdominal bleeding, severe vaginal injury, severe injury to the cervix, significant uterine perforation, and a small bowel tear. As a result of the injuries, Butler will be unable to have biological children.”

In both cases, Planned Parenthood’s attorneys responded that the women were properly informed of the risks of abortion. Golly — every time PP testifies at a public hearing, we don’t hear anything from them about risks. And, PP vehemently fought Wisconsin legislation which would properly inform women of the risks of abortion, even taking the new law to court where they lost.

Just imagine that abortion was not legal and these injuries were a result of a “back alley” abortions. It would be reported in the media for days on end. I guess the horrendous experiences of these two women need to be kept quiet so that the myth of safe, legal abortion can continue.
