Miracle Baby Survives Abortion Attempt

Surviving an abortion attempt is a rarity, but sometimes babies are intended to just make it. Baby Finley Percival of Nottinghamshire, England wasn’t supposed to live, but one day he will tell the story of his miraculous survival in what should be the safest place in the world — his mother’s womb.

Finley has a brother who died of a severe kidney disease. His brother, Lewis, was born with serious kidney damage. When Jodie Percival became pregnant again, she decided to abort at eight weeks because she “couldn’t cope with the anguish of losing another baby.”

But Finley refused to die, and after feeling movement, Jodie saw her doctor who told her she was still pregnant at 19 weeks. Initially angry about the failed abortion, Jodie had a scan which revealed that Finley also had kidney problems but not severe enough to cause his death. Jodie decided to give Finley a chance at life and he was born this past November with minor kidney damage. He is expected to live a normal life. And, Jodie is overjoyed.

Eventually, perhaps Jodie will come to realize that killing Finley would have caused her the anguish of another lost baby. She is experiencing the miracle of a life free from guilt because she eventually chose life for her baby.
