Lost in the tremendous publicity generated by the presidential election is the fate of the Wisconsin legislature. It is a real nail-biter. It wasn’t that long ago that the anti-life leadership in the State Senate did the following:

1. Pushed for a bill to repeal Wisconsin’s abortion ban.

2. Had a public hearing on legislation to legalize assisted suicide.

3. Passed Healthy Wisconsin which would force taxpayers to pay for every abortion.

While this may sound radical and unbelievable to us, all of these things could happen as a result of tomorrow’s elections. Wisconsin Right to life led the fight to defeat all of the above measures with the assistance of many other Wisconsin groups and allies.

But, the shift of just two seats in the State Assembly could give that body an anti-life leadership team. Those we defend will not survive the devastation of both houses of the legislature with anti-life leadership.

In 2006, many state races were lost by just a few hundred votes. You can help tremendously by clicking the link above, learning what district you are in, and studying the candidates’ right-to-life positions. Don’t forget the key race in the Green Bay/Appleton area where John Gard must defeat pro-abortion Steve Kagen.

Your work does not end there. If everyone reading this blog would get information about local right-to-life candidates to 10 people today, thousands of voters will be impacted. No excuses here — too many lives depend on your action.

On Wednesday, I will give you a rundown on what came down and the future of right-to-life efforts (or anti-life efforts) in our great state.
