National Network of Abortion Funds Targets Hyde Amendment for Rejection

“Hyde — 30 Years is Enough!” screams the headline on the website of the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF). This group touts its collaboration with other groups to help women and girls pay for abortions. Why? Because you, as a taxpayer, are too stingy to pay for them.

“Before the Hyde Amendment, women could access abortion services regardless of their income, because Medicaid covered abortion care like it did every other medical service,” says the NNAF. And, of course, that is their goal — to make abortion part of mainstream America.

The Hyde Amendment has been in effect for over 30 years, preventing your federal tax dollars from paying for abortions. With President Obama’s campaign promises to fund abortions, pro-abortion groups have new hope that the Hyde amendment can be rejected by Congress.

In his recently released budget, Obama did not encourage Congress to authorize funding of abortion on demand across the nation, only in the District of Columbia. Hmmm. Wonder what the NNAF thinks of that? And, will Obama change his mind when his pro-abort friends apply the heat?
