Obama Doubles Down on Planned Parenthood Funding, HHS Mandate

President Obama may have positions that evolve, or ones that he re-invents. But there is one issue on which, unequivocally, he never bends. Not one inch. And that is on unrestricted abortions and on anything Planned Parenthood.

Case in point was last night’s debate when Obama claimed that Romney’s only means of paying for his programs is to cut funds to Big Bird and Planned Parenthood. “When Governor Romney says that we should eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, there are millions of women all across the country, who rely on Planned Parenthood for, not just contraceptive care, they rely on it for mammograms, for cervical cancer screenings,” said Obama

For the record, Planned Parenthood does not do mammograms — the claim that they do totally discredited in the Susan G. Komen debacle over its grants to Planned Parenthood. Also important to note is that Planned Parenthood has already invested just short of $6 million in television ads attacking Romney and plans to spend more. From a financial viewpoint, the $6 million is a drop in the bucket when compared to the $500 million Planned Parenthood receives in taxpayer funding.

But, Obama wasn’t through. He also promoted his offensive mandate which forces religious institutions and employers to provide coverage for drugs and treatments to which they are morally opposed for reasons of conscience. Of course, he framed his comments as a women’s issue — that women cannot succeed in the workplace unless they have these drugs and treatments. Spare me.

Doubling down. Unequivocal. That’s our President.
