Be Wary of NIH Guidelines for Funding to Kill Living Human Embryos

  • Blog

On Friday, the National Institutes of Health announced guidelines for funding embryonic stem cell research following President Obama’s Executive Order in March opening up federal funds for destruction of living human embryos.

While appearing to limit funding to killing embryos supposedly “leftover” in in vitro fertilization clinics, National Right to Life views Friday’s announcement as a step-by-step approach to “desensitize the public to the concept of killing human embryos for research purposes.”

National Right to Life fully believes, as documented in a letter sent to members of Congress on March 31, that the NIH guidelines are part of an overall “bait and switch” strategy. Congressional leaders will bring up a bill which supposedly codifies the NIH guidelines, but goes much further by authorizing the creation of human embryos, including clones and hybrids, for the sole purpose of destroying them for research.
