Obama Attempts to Toy with Catholics

  • Blog

It was widely rumored that Cardinal Francis George of Chicago met with President Obama in March. News of what was discussed reveals even further the chameleon nature of Obama’s personality. Obama told Cardinal George he is not pro-abortion and will “eventually” work to reduce abortions. Should we start the timer now?

Obama tried to convince the Cardinal that he agrees with him on the abortion issue. “It’s hard to disagree with him because he’ll always tell you he agrees with you,” George told CNS. “Maybe that’s political. I think he sincerely wants to agree with you. You have to say, again and again, ‘No, Mr. President, we don’t agree (on abortion).'”

When questioned about his decision to overturn the Mexico City policy, Obama said “…we weren’t exporting abortion.” George said “Yes we are.” Obama replied, “I know I have to do certain things here..But be patient and you’ll see the pattern will change.” George wisely responded, “Mr. President, you’ve given us nothing but the wrong signals on this issue.”

This gets us back to the ongoing Notre Dame controversy and more “toying” with Catholics. When informed that former Vatican ambassador Mary Ann Glendon (my heroine!!) respectfully declined to receive Notre Dame’s prestigious Laetare Medal because of the President’s appearance on the same podium, the White House released a statement saying Obama would deliver “an inclusive and respectful speech.”

Cardinal George and Mary Ann Glendon deserve praise and admiration for rebuffing the spin that Obama uses to spellbind an unfortunate number of Americans.

Beware the man of words whose actions deeply and unequivocally contradict what he says. But then, this is the Obama we have known for a long time.
