Assisted Suicide Efforts Alarming

Working under the radar with virtually no media attention, advocates of assisted suicide are advancing their movement. Here are some of the current activities:

1. Briefs have been filed before the Montana State Supreme Court which will decide if it should overturn a ruling by a lower court judge making assisted suicide legal in that state.

2. In Washington State the first two prescriptions were issued suicide drugs.

3. Also in Washington State, euthanasia advocates are arguing that there should be no conscience rights for medical professionals and facilities who do not want to participate in assisting suicides. They are aiming their actions at Catholic and other medical facilities, knowing that patients committing suicide do not have to be hospitalized. Their goal is to make assisted suicide “mainstream.”

4. Scotland’s Parliament will soon debate legislation to legalize assisted suicide.

5. Canada is expecting introduction of legislation to legalize assisted suicide.

6. Legislation has been introduced in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Arizona and other states to legalize assisted suicide.

7. President Obama’s health care plan may require rationing of health care which could lead to euthanasia and assisted suicide.

8. Notorious euthanasia advocate Philip Nitschke operates websites, writes books, and conducts seminars teaching people how to commit suicide. His operating stage has been New Zealand and Australia but he is now trying to export his “business” to the UK. He was recently denied citizenship in the UK so he is talking about moving to the United States.
